This vintage fountain pen and pencil set was made by Conway Stewart, in England around 1953. The pattern is called Green Hatch and the model, a No.60, was their flagship selling for 35 shillings until it was overtaken by the No.100 in 1954. As you will see from the photograph the fountain pen cap has one broad rolled gold band and the distinctive Conway diamond clip. The barrel carries the original Conway lever and a good imprint stating “Conway Stewart 60 – Made in England”. The nib fits the model stating “DURO Conway Stewart 14ct Gold 60” and has a smooth medium point. The matching expel/repel pencil is also in full working order and carries the Conway clip and two thin rolled gold bands. The text on the pencil reads “The Conway No.18 – Conway Stewart”. Replacement lead size is 1.18mm and Yard O Led will suffice. Condition on both items is very good with very minor age wear to the trim. They come in the original Conway gift box which is in good condition apart from a scuff mark on the lid top – as shown in the montage. The No.60 is a chunky pen measuring 127mm with cap on and 15mm with cap on barrel end. The pencil is 130mm long. A good example of Conway Stewart at their best, this attractive vintage pen and pencil set, in the original box, is suitable to either add to a collection or use as an everyday workhorse. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection will be carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.

This rare Parker Silver Pearl Vacumatic fountain pen was made for Parker in Denmark by the Christian Olsen Pen Company in Copenhagen using parts imported from Canada. They were the first distributors of Parker pens outside the U.S.A. The pen barrel bears the Olsen “anchor” logo with “C O” inside the surrounding ring – indicating an early model - and this example dates from around 1935. It is rare to find an Olsen barrel imprint. The Vacumatic was originally launched in the U.S.A. 1932 as the “Vacuum Filler”. It was advertised as holding 102% more ink than other pens available at the time. The barrel is used as the ink reservoir rather than an ink sac and this increases the ink capacity. Filled by a then new style vacuum pump mechanism on the barrel end, it was also advertised as “revolutionary in principle and perfectly marvellous in performance”. It became an accepted and reliable filling method that, in its later form, was used for the early Parker 51. This example has the early “lock down” filler. It was available in a number of colours including this, the Silver Pearl. It is a double jewel model meaning the cap crown and the barrel blind cap trim carry the same striped design as the cap and barrel. The trim was nickel or chrome. In this case I believe it is nickel. The cap carries the Parker arrow clip and three thin bands. Around the crown of the cap lip is the registration number imprint “784404”. The bold barrel imprint states “Parker Vacumatic” with the Olsen “anchor” logo underneath. The Parker two tone arrow nib states “Parker Vacumatic Reg.T.M. Made in Canada 3” which links with Olsen’s use of Canadian parts. The nib has a smooth medium point and is a slightly wet writer. I have listed it as in a fair to good condition. You will see from the montage that the cap rings have, in the main, lost their colour. The clip has signs of wear and the section has some minor marks. There is also the feint remains of personalization on the barrel which are visible using a loupe. Naturally it is priced accordingly. It is a good size vintage fountain pen measuring 127mm with cap on and 154mm with cap on barrel end. A Christian Olsen vacumatic is hard to find and this example, even in a fair to good condition, will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection and will also serve as an everyday writer. All vintage fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you are also able to select your payment method.

This vintage fountain pen is one of the successful Targa range - a model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company from 1976 to 1999. This is model 1005 – a 23k gold electroplated finish with a fluted design to barrel and cap. It is an early example with the Sheaffer crown imprinted on the cap lip. The cap lip also carries the text “Gold Electroplated Sheaffer U.S.A.” and a “hallmark”. It has the stylish Sheaffer 14k inlaid nib with a smooth medium point. As you would expect it has the Sheaffer “Lifetime” white dot on the clip and black inlaid ends to cap and barrel. The pull off/push on cap secures with a satisfying click. It has a squeezebox filling system fitted but you could use a Sheaffer ink cartridge if you prefer. Condition is good with some plating wear. It is quite a substantial pen in the hand and measures 135mm with cap on and 152mm with cap on barrel end. There is some light reflection in the image. The Targa series, with its wide range of finishes, is an interesting model to collect as well as a pleasure to use everyday. This vintage fountain pen forms part of the Targa range - a very successful model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company. The Parker “61” was launched in the U.S.A.1956 and in 1964 in the U.K. with Parker proudly announcing its revolutionary filling system. The “61” with its stylish arrow inset into the pen nib shell, pointing the way to the nib, is quite distinctive and rather elegant. This particular example has a classic grey finish with lustraloy caps and the Parker grey “jewel” on the cap crown and barrel end. The matching Parker rotary pencil also carries the cap “jewel” and they come in the original Parker presentation box. The nib has a smooth medium point. The cap text states “Parker Made in England” and carries the Parker logo. The fountain pen measures 135mm with cap on and 144mm with cap on barrel end. The pencil measures 128mm. On unscrewing the barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This exposes the filler unit (illustrated in the montage) which is immersed in the ink bottle to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction. This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib end. Whilst at the time a number of owners found this filling method unsatisfactory in the longer term, it was simply because it depended upon the owner to use the pen on a regular basis, and refill it, so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler. Used correctly it is a reliable and clean filling method. The Parker “61” has a distinctive and elegant design and this set will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. They will also provide good service as everyday writers. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. You may choose your method of payment at checkout.

This rolled gold bark effect finish vintage fountain pen was launched by Parker in September of 1979 and discontinued in 1982, so it is quite rare. It is a stylish and substantial pen and was positioned at the higher price end of the Parker range. The cap with its long arrow clip has no engraving around the lip. The rolled gold bark effect finish is also used on the cap crown and barrel base. The barrel has a smooth lozenge for personalisation. Around the lip of the barrel is the Parker logo and the words “Parker Made in England”. The 14ct nib has a smooth medium point. It is worth mentioning that a limited edition version was launched in 1981 to commemorate the wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. Condition is very good. It measures 132mm with cap on and 142mm with cap on barrel end. It is fitted with a converter slide filler to enable you to use bottle ink and it will also take modern Parker ink cartridges. (as usual with cartridge filling pens, when inserting a new cartridge, you will need to give it a squeeze initially to encourage the transfer of ink through to the feed). An unusual and quite rare vintage fountain pen from an excellent manufacturer. Suitable for everyday use or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. This delightful lever filling Waterman sterling silver overlay vintage pen was made in America around 1930. The overlay pattern is termed "Basketweave". In common with the fashion at the time it has a ring on the top of the cap rather than a clip. It was designed to take a ribbon or chain through the cap ring, which enabled ladies to wear it around the neck or a gentleman to hang it from a watch chain. It has the Waterman branding on the lip of the pen cap. The model number 452½v is on the bottom of the barrel – it follows the Waterman numbering of 4 = sterling silver, 52½ = slender size and lever fill and “v” = short length. The Waterman "Ideal" lozenge is on the lever and the personalization lozenge is clear. Condition is good with some minor age wear and a couple of small dings at the bottom of the pen barrel where the cap sits when writing. The fine to medium point Waterman nib has some flex and it is a pleasure to use. It measures 95mm with cap on and 130mm with cap on barrel end. A short but exceptional vintage fountain pen suitable to either add to a collection or to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you are also able to select your payment method.

This vintage fountain pen is one of the successful Targa range - a model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company from 1976 to 1999. This particular example, part of their Laque series, is model number 1038 – Green Ronce. It was available between 1978 and 1982. The Laque series was the first Targa to be assembled in the UK from parts made in the U.S.A. The laque is hand finished and polished to achieve a real depth of colour. The pen trim is 23ct gold electroplated and the stylish Sheaffer inlaid nib is 14ct gold with a smooth medium point. As you would expect it has the Sheaffer “Lifetime” white dot on the clip. The pull off/push on cap secures with a satisfying click. It has a squeezebox filling system fitted but you could use a Sheaffer ink cartridge if you prefer. This attractive vintage fountain pen seen as a variation on the “61”, was launched by Parker in 1969 and called the “65”. As you will see from the montage, instead of an arrow on the shell tip as you have with the “61”, the “65” has a distinctive open cropped nib which, it was felt, would offer more flexibility than the “61”.  It was available in a variety of finishes and this the Flighter de Luxe – with modern styling of brushed stainless steel with rolled gold trim and and sporting the grey Parker “jewel” on the cap crown and barrel end. All finishes were discontinued by 1983. It comes with a matching ballpoint that also has the Parker “jewel” on the cap crown. The fountain pen currently has a twistfill system but it will also take modern Parker ink cartridges and measures 132mm with cap on and 140mm with cap on barrel end. The nib states “Parker 14k 585” and has a smooth medium point nib. The ballpoint is in working order and has a new Parker refill fitted with blue ink. It is 127mm long. This vintage fountain pen and ballpoint set will serve very well as everyday writers but will also sit comfortably in a collection illustrating the middle ground of the Parker transition from “61” to “65” and then to the “75”. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and an alternative gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may select your method of payment.

This vintage fountain pen - the Parker “51”, was launched in England by Parker in the early 50’s. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. It has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular version, rarer than most, has a body in Black and the sought after rolled silver cap with rolled gold clip. This particular cap was introduced in 1952 and it is believed to have been produced only in England. It carries the text “Parker R. Silver” and this dates it as an early cap c1952. It comes with a smooth Parker 51 medium point nib that states “585 14K Parker England ”. Condition of both pen and cap is good with some age wear to the rolled silver cap as can be seen in the montage. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 136mm with cap on and 151mm with cap on barrel end. The Parker "51" was an outstandingly popular fountain pen in its day and it remains a stylish and extremely good “work horse” today. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.
