This delightful lever filling Waterman sterling silver overlay vintage pen was made in America around 1930. The overlay pattern is termed "Basketweave". In common with the fashion at the time it has a ring on the top of the cap rather than a clip. It was designed to take a ribbon or chain through the cap ring, which enabled ladies to wear it around the neck or a gentleman to hang it from a watch chain. It has the Waterman branding on the lip of the pen cap. The model number 452½v is on the bottom of the barrel – it follows the Waterman numbering of 4 = sterling silver, 52½ = slender size and lever fill and “v” = short length. The Waterman "Ideal" lozenge is on the lever and the personalization lozenge is clear. Condition is good with some minor age wear and a couple of small dings at the bottom of the pen barrel where the cap sits when writing. The fine to medium point Waterman nib has some flex and it is a pleasure to use. It measures 95mm with cap on and 130mm with cap on barrel end. A short but exceptional vintage fountain pen suitable to either add to a collection or to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you are also able to select your payment method.

This delightful and rare leather covered Victorian travelling inkwell in the form of a crown, and painted as such, dates from around 1850. The crown lid opens by pressing the blue “jewel” on front just above the “ermine” base. This reveals a hinged inkwell lid secured by a lever to the right. On pressing this outward the lid lifts to expose the inkwell with its glass liner. Until 17th century most portable inkwells were used by travelling scribes. Static inkwells to use in the home or office were common from 18th century but with the increase in touring in the 19th and 20th century travelling inkwells were created in increasingly sophisticated designs to be carried by Victorians for recording impressions whilst journeying. Their mechanisms were such that they could be fastened securely and would not spill if carried in a pocket or handbag. I have not put this one to the test - as it is more likely these days it will be used on a desk in situ or added to a writing equipment collection. It is small but not too small measuring 58mm high x 66mm wide. Condition is very good with only minor age wear that you would expect. The leather on the base has become scuffed over the years so I have included a shot of this in the montage bottom left. Created by the Victorian’s love of novelty it remains a useful and very decorative item today.

This twist fill attractive vintage fountain pen seen as a variation on the “61”, was launched by Parker in 1969 and called the “65”. As you will see from the montage, instead of an arrow on the shell tip as you have with the “61”, the “65” has a distinctive open cropped nib which, it was felt, would offer more flexibility than the “61”.  It was available in a variety of finishes and this the Flighter de Luxe – with modern styling of brushed stainless steel with rolled gold trim and and sporting the grey Parker “jewel” on the cap crown and barrel end. All finishes were discontinued by 1983. It comes with a matching ballpoint that also has the Parker “jewel” on the cap crown. The fountain pen currently has a twistfill system but it will also take modern Parker ink cartridges and measures 132mm with cap on and 140mm with cap on barrel end. The nib states “Parker 14k 585” and has a smooth medium point nib. The ballpoint is in working order and has a new Parker refill fitted with blue ink. It is 127mm long. This vintage fountain pen and ballpoint set will serve very well as everyday writers but will also sit comfortably in a collection illustrating the middle ground of the Parker transition from “61” to “65” and then to the “75”. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and an alternative gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may select your method of payment.

This squeezebox fill vintage fountain pen is one of the successful Targa range - a model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company from 1976 to 1999. This particular example, part of their Laque series, is model number 1038 – Green Ronce. It was available between 1978 and 1982. The Laque series was the first Targa to be assembled in the UK from parts made in the U.S.A. The laque is hand finished and polished to achieve a real depth of colour. The pen trim is 23ct gold electroplated and the stylish Sheaffer inlaid nib is 14ct gold with a smooth medium point. As you would expect it has the Sheaffer “Lifetime” white dot on the clip. The pull off/push on cap secures with a satisfying click. It has a squeezebox filling system fitted but you could use a Sheaffer ink cartridge if you prefer. Condition is very good with hardly any age wear. It is quite a substantial pen in the hand and measures 135mm with cap on and 155mm with cap on barrel end. The Targa series, with its wide range of finishes, is an interesting model to collect as well as a pleasure to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced by Vintage Fountain Pens Inc. and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. This squeezebox fill vintage fountain pen - the Parker 45 was launched in the U.S.A. in the 1960’s and proved to be a very popular economy pen. It was named after the famous Western pistol and was the first pen Parker issued which would take an ink cartridge. The model subsequently became available in the U.K. and this example the Parker 45 Harlequin with its Black Shield pattern, carries a date code of 1981. The model was phased out in 1983. Whilst it will take Parker ink cartridges, this particular example also comes with the Parker squeezebox fill system fitted that allows you to also use bottle ink. The nib is made of steel and has a firm medium point. The text around the cap lip states “Parker Made in England UE”. It is a long slim and very stylish pen measuring 135mm with cap on and 145mm with cap on barrel end. Condition is very good. It will serve well as a stylish everyday writer and is also worth a place in a vintage fountain pen collection as an example of Parker design that was only available for a short period. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you are also able to select your payment method.

This  stunning desk pen stand is from a private collection of Royal Doulton china.  Doulton have used a transfer design to simulate shagreen, a pattern covering articles popular in the 1920’s – this item dates from around 1924. The integral black tulip pen holder holds pens of the period but it will also support a later vintage or more modern fountain pen. Its purpose is to hold the pen on your desk ready to write without having to remove the cap. The cap sits in the indented tray for you to pick up to recap the pen so it can travel with you. Alternatively leave the pen in the holder for constant desktop use. This particular desk pen stand also has indentations to hold paper clips etc. either side of the tulip. The green baize covered base shows a clear Royal Doulton mark. It measures 150mm long x 94mm deep and 24mm high. Condition is good with only a miniscule nick to the right front edge that almost appears part of the design. It is a very attractive and useful piece with an almost luminescent glow.

This  Vacumatic fill Parker 51 is in a body colour Parker termed “Cordovan Brown”  which is a brown closely resembling the later aerometric 51colour of Burgundy. It carries a good clear two line imprint under the barrel clutch ring stating “Parker “51” Made in USA T7”. This dates it from 1947. The text around the Blue Diamond cap states “1/10 16k Gold Filled Made in USA” with Parker branding on the cap clip and the grey “jewel’ on the cap crown. The smooth medium to slightly broad nib is a replacement English nib and reads “585 14k Parker England”. The vacumatic pump fill system, with the barrel providing the ink reservoir, was very popular at the time and provides a clean and easy filling method. Condition is good with only minor age wear as can be seen in the montage and a tiny ding to the rear of the cap. It measures 136mm with cap on and 150mm with cap on barrel end. This is a good example of a fairly early Parker 51 in Cardovan Brown with the sought after Blue Diamond cap, and a medium to slightly broad nib. It will provide good service as an everyday writer and, given its quality, will also sit well in a Parker 51 collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This aerometric fill vintage fountain pen and pencil set was made in England by Parker around 1955. The aerodynamic design of the Parker 51 fountain pen has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. It has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”.  This particular example has a burgundy body and a Parker rolled gold cap with “jewel” end and arrow clip. It has a Parker 51 smooth medium nib that reads “14K Parker England”. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 134mm with cap on and 151mm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good with only minor age wear. A classic vintage fountain pen that will serve well as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This squeezebox fill iconic limited edition Parker 75 fountain pen was made in the U.S.A. in 1977 from brass rescued from the “RMS Queen Elizabeth” following a disastrous fire which sent her to the bottom of Hong Kong harbour. Only 5000 pens were made for worldwide distribution – this is number 1716/5000. Upon the ship’s launch in 1938 it was said to be the largest passenger liner the world would ever see. It was used during WWII to transport American troops and refitted as a luxury ocean liner in 1946. Thereafter it carried the world’s most interesting and influential people. It was felt that a fitting tribute to the demise of such a great liner would be the creation of a limited amount of Parker pens made from the brass rescued from the ship – and this is one. Each pen has a special wooden box together with a Certificate of Authenticity stating the limited edition number. This number is also carried on the cap lip with the text “Parker Made in U.S.A. 1716/5000”. As you will see from the montage the presentation wooden box carries a brass plaque setting out the liner’s history and the fountain pen barrel has a plaque stating “RMS Queen Elizabeth”. The nib states “Parker 14k Point U.S.A.” and has medium marked on the rear of the feed. This example of a much sought after late vintage fountain pen is in good condition with only minor age wear including some cosmetic wear to the box front clasp and some letters underneath the box clasp as illustrated in the montage. This is reflected in the price. There is no personalisation on the fountain pen itself. It is a good size and quite heavy vintage fountain pen measuring 128mm with cap on and 140mm with cap on barrel end. It can be used with bottle ink using the attached filler unit or with a Parker ink cartridge. A sought after Parker classic, it is suitable to add to a vintage fountain pen collection or to use as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. You may choose your method of payment at checkout.
