This vintage fountain pen and pencil set was made in England by Parker around 1955. The aerodynamic design of the Parker 51 fountain pen has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. It has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”.  This particular example has a burgundy body and a Parker rolled gold cap with “jewel” end and arrow clip. It has a Parker 51 smooth medium nib that reads “14K Parker England”. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 134mm with cap on and 151mm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good with only minor age wear. A classic vintage fountain pen that will serve well as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This vintage fountain pen is one of the successful Targa range - a model produced by the Sheaffer Pen Company from 1976 to 1999. This particular example, part of their Laque series is called Dark Green Vein. It is darker than the Green Ronce and has a light green vein running through the marble. It was available between 1978 and 1982. The Laque series was the first Targa to be assembled in the UK from parts made in the U.S.A. The laque is hand finished and polished to achieve a real depth of colour. The pen trim is 23ct gold electroplated and the stylish Sheaffer inlaid nib is 14ct gold with a fine to medium point. As you would expect it has the Sheaffer “Lifetime” white dot on the clip. The pull off/push on cap secures with a satisfying click. It has a squeezebox filling system fitted but you could use a Sheaffer ink cartridge if you prefer. Condition is very good with hardly any age wear. It is quite a substantial pen in the hand and measures 135mm with cap on and 155mm with cap on barrel end. The Targa series, with its wide range of finishes, is an interesting model to collect as well as a pleasure to use everyday. This vintage pen, which Waterman called the Lady Patricia, was created in 1930 for the female hand, following the successful sales of the Waterman Patrician range – a much larger fountain pen aimed primarily at the male market. The Stationery Trades’ Journal of the time (November 1930) praised its “slender careful lines and smart modish colour” It was marketed as having a “smart, modern, feminine cap clasp – holding the pen securely in place, even in the most crowded handbag.” The first Lady Patricia was presented to Miss Amy Johnson (1903-1941) the English female aviator who carried a Waterman fountain pen during her daring solo flight from England to Australia. It was marketed in a range of colours – this one is called Jade Green.  The cap top, clip, single decorated cap band and lever are gold fill. It has a Waterman’s Ideal Canada No.2 nib in a medium to slightly broad point which is a pleasure to use. This delightful, and quite rare, vintage pen is in good condition with only minor age wear including some brassing to the trim as can be seen in the montage. The barrel imprint states “Waterman’s Fountain Pen, Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF. Made in USA” with the Waterman’s “Ideal” logo. So a Canadian pen, with a U.S.A. nib from a U.K. website! There is some slight colour variation between the cap and barrel as is common with this finish but not to the extent that it detracts from the pen. It is a small pen measuring 108mm with cap on and 136mm with cap on barrel end. It is a true reflection of its period and this Lady will provide many more years of writing pleasure. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This aerometric filling Parker “51” with its gold filled overlay on cap and barrel, was made in the U.S.A. in 1950. Parker called it the “Signet” (the model was renamed in 1957 to Insignia following legal advice). Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and it has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”. The Parker 51 fine to medium point nib states “14k Parker England” so this has obviously been replaced over the years. Condition of both barrel and cap is good with only minor age wear and, in a good light, a very small ding is visible on the cap to the left of the clip. The cap carries the Parker arrow clip and has the Parker grey “jewel” in the cap crown and states “Parker 1/10 14k Gold Filled” around the cap lip. The barrel carries the text  “Made in U.S.A. 50.0”.  The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose the steel sleeve filler covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to four times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It is a good size fountain pen measuring 135mm with cap on and 149mm with cap on barrel end. The Parker "51" was an outstandingly popular fountain pen in its day and remains a stylish and extremely good “workhorse” today. Representing Parker at its best, this is an excellent vintage fountain pen for adding to a vintage fountain pen collection or to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may select your method of payment. There is some light reflection in the montage.

The Parker “61” was launched in the UK in 1964. This particular example, the “61 Consort” with its rolled gold cap decorated with vertical and horizontal lines and a grey pearl “jewel” crown is one of the rarest in the “61” range and dates from 1967. It comes with a matching Parker 61 ballpoint and pencil. The elegant styling of the Parker "61" with its arrow pointing the way to the nib combined with the Parker grey pearl “jewel” in the cap crown of each item, creates a quite distinctive Parker design. The cap text on all items states “Parker Made in England 1/5 12ct rolled gold” and they carry the Parker logo. The nib has a smooth medium point. On unscrewing the fountain pen barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This is immersed in the ink to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction which is why it was advertised as "The pen that fills itself". This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib into the ink bottle. Whilst it depends on the owner to use and refill the pen on a regular basis (so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler), used correctly it is a reliable and clean filling method. Condition on all items is good - there is a minor ding on the cap of the ballpoint and some brassing as can be seen in the montage. The capillary filler has been used to fill the fountain pen for testing and it is in working order. The ballpoint has a new Parker blue refill and has a smooth cap activated system. The expel/repel pencil is also in working order and comes with a phial of replacement Parker leads. The replacement lead size is 0.92. The fountain pen measures 135mm with cap on and 142mm with cap on barrel end. The ballpoint is 128mm long, the pencil 127mm. The Parker “61” has a distinctive and elegant look and this trio of fountain pen, ballpoint and pencil will provide good service as everyday writers. With the addition of the Consort design being one of the rarest in the “61” range, and the capillary filling system, it will also sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment. A currency converter tool is there to assist if required.

The Parker “61” was launched in the U.S.A.1956 and in 1964 in the U.K. It sold with a range of cap designs that included this, the more rare “Rainbow” Rolled Gold overlay, normally with a solid colour barrel – in this case black. The “61”, with its stylish rolled gold arrow inset into the pen shell, pointing the way to the nib, is quite distinctive and rather elegant. The cap carries the “61” emblem and the text “Parker Made in England. The nib has a smooth medium point. Both cap and barrel have the Parker “pearlised” ends. On unscrewing the barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This is immersed into the ink bottle to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction. This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib. Parker advertised it as “the pen that fills itself”. It is a reliable and clean filling method. It does depend upon the owner using the pen on a regular basis, and refilling it, so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler. This stylish vintage fountain pen measures 13.6cm with cap on and 14.4cm with cap on barrel end. This “Carltonware for Parker” desk pen holder was made in England c1930 to fashionably accommodate the Parker Duofold fountain pens of the period - however as you will see from the montage it will also accommodate a 1950's Parker 51 with taper barrel.  The stand's function is to hold the pen upright in the central tulip on a desk without its cap and usual barrel whilst maintaining the ink flow for immediate use. The cap and barrel are placed in the stand's dished tray until you wish to take the pen elsewhere. At which point you unscrew the tulip and put the cap and barrel back on for transportation - leaving the taper barrel in the tulip for use the next time. You will see from the montage that the attractive design is a chinoiserie enamel decoration on a dark blue field with a gilt outline. Condition is very good. Note that the base baize has been replaced at some stage but the Carltonware branding is still crisp. Along the rear edge is the Parker logo. It measures 92mm wide x 155mm long x 30mm high. “Carltonware for Parker” deskpen holders are rare to come to market particularly in this condition. It is illustrated and sold with a black Parker 51 fountain pen with a medium nib, rolled gold cap, normal pen barrel and a taper barrel end.
