This exceptional Jumbo size vintage fountain pen was made around 1935. Jumbo pens were primarily a novelty pen and not considered as serious writing implements. However there were a few exceptions, of which this is one. Originally intended as a piston filling pen (the piston mechanism is still in place), it is such a rare item that I decided not to take the risk of restoring the mechanism and have used it on test as a dip pen.  In this capacity it works very well holding a capacious amount of ink in the feed – enough to write a generous page of A4 without further dipping. It has a medium point. As you might imagine it is a very large fountain pen measuring 145mm long with a circumference of 28mm. It weighs 81grams. Apart from its size, its rarity is in the ornate Indian silver overlay with quality workmanship depicting camels, elephants and palm trees in abundance. It is for this reason I have called it the Maharajah pen as it would have belonged to someone of high rank. You will note the loop on the crown of the cap originally meant to enable the wearer to hang it from a belt. Condition is very good with minor age wear as it has been kept in its original box. The box clasp works but the exterior is in very poor condition, however it has served its purpose in protecting the pen. I will post in this box as it is far too large for my usual pen shipping box. A truly exceptional and rare vintage fountain pen suitable to be used every day as a dipping pen. It will certainly sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection.  It has been fully inspected and bench tested as a dip pen. A further inspection will be carried out prior to dispatch. I will post in the original box as the pen is far too large for my usual gift/shipping box. A currency converter is supplied at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This aerometric filling vintage fountain pen range was introduced by Parker in 1953 and, with its solid colour range and rolled gold trim, was well received. It sold well until the range was discontinued in 1962. This particular example, in a colour Parker termed simply “Green” dates from 1954 and is one of the larger models. It is a chunky and long vintage pen measuring 138mm with cap on and 155mm with cap on barrel end. The cap has the Parker single decorative chevron band and the Parker arrow clip. The barrel imprint has faded over the years but what can be seen states “Parker Duofold”. The good size medium to broad point nib is a slightly wet writer and states “Parker 14k England”. The filler unit is a very simple squeezebox method. This classic vintage fountain pen is in good condition with only minor age wear and is suitable for everyday use. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you can select your method of payment.

The Parker “61” was launched in the U.S.A.1956 and in 1964 in the U.K. It sold with a range of cap designs that included this, the more rare “Rainbow” Rolled Gold overlay, normally with a solid colour barrel – in this case black. The “61”, with its stylish rolled gold arrow inset into the pen shell, pointing the way to the nib, is quite distinctive and rather elegant. The cap carries the “61” emblem and the text “Parker Made in England. The nib has a smooth medium point. Both cap and barrel have the Parker “pearlised” ends. On unscrewing the barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This is immersed into the ink bottle to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction. This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib. Parker advertised it as “the pen that fills itself”. It is a reliable and clean filling method. It does depend upon the owner using the pen on a regular basis, and refilling it, so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler. This stylish vintage fountain pen measures 13.6cm with cap on and 14.4cm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good with some minor age wear as you will see from the montage. This is a distinctive and elegant vintage fountain pen with a quite rare cap finish. It will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. It will also provide good service as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This squeezebox fill exceptionally popular fountain pen was launched by Parker in the USA in 1964 and, in its various finishes, was produced for the next thirty years. Parker called it the “75” following on from their usage of numbers to denote models which restarted with the “51”. This particular example was manufactured in the Parker factory in France and is in a pattern Parker called Grain d’Orge – or Fine Barley which is on gold plate over a brass base. It dates from c1983. Around the lip of the cap are the words “Parker Made in France LE” and the Parker logo. You will note the ridged area between the nib and the barrel which is designed to increase the writer’s grip. The nib states “Parker 75cm France”. The feed has “F” on the reverse denoting a fine point and this is in fact the case. The section threads are plastic and the top of the cap and end of the barrel are dished. It can be filled either by using the squeezebox fill that is in place or by inserting a Parker ink cartridge. Condition is very good with only minor age wear. It measures 127mm with cap on and 144mm with cap on barrel end. It is a pleasing weight in the hand (21g) and the cap has a comforting click when replacing it on the barrel. An attractive and substantial fountain pen it is suitable for everyday use, if you prefer a fine nib point, or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. A gift box is available free of charge at checkout.

This piston filling vintage fountain pen – the Pelikan 140 – was made in Germany around 1959. The 140 was introduced in 1952 and continued to be a popular model until 1963. It is easily identified by the green barrel with vertical black stripes and the solid black cap with its distinctive rolled gold Pelikan clip - designed to resemble a Pelikan’s beak. The text around the cap lip reads “PELIKAN 140 GERMANY”. The earlier models had an engraving on the barrel knob to indicate the width of the nib. This is not evident on this example however on test it writes with a medium to slightly broad nib. The nib text reads “Pelikan 14c 585” with a Pelikan logo in the centre. It is a piston filling pen so you turn the barrel knob to allow the ink to enter. It is a medium sized vintage fountain pen measuring 123mm with cap on and 139mm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good, with some surface scratches and brassing to the cap band and clip – this is common for this model and it lives up to Pelikan’s reputation for quality products. Whilst it is a light pen it has good balance and the 140 has been called “a rugged, everyday, take anywhere pen” so it is suitable for everyday use or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment. A currency converter tool is there to assist if required.

This squeezebox fill unusual and stylish late vintage fountain pen and ballpoint set was made by Parker in England. Both are date coded on the cap for  c1982 and they are reported to have been discontinued with the rest of the series in 1983. The model was termed the Parker “50” or Parker "Falcon". It followed the success of the original brushed steel Flighter version released in 1978. The nib is an integral part of the section and on its launch Parker advertised it as the second pen without a separate nib – the first being the quill. You will see that the ballpoint pen follows similar distinctive styling. The polished nib tip and ballpoint writing end are pleasantly offset by the overall matt brown metal finish and Parker arrow clip. They are of slim design with the pen measuring 130mm with cap on and 140mm with cap on barrel end, and the ballpoint 125mm. The fountain pen has a Parker aerometric filler system fitted (so you could use bottled ink) and it will also take current Parker ink cartridges. The ballpen has a new Parker refill in blue. Condition is very good as can be seen in the montage. With its sleek aerodynamic styling this late vintage fountain pen set is suitable to add to a collection or to use as every day writers if you like a smooth medium nib. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This lever filling vintage fountain pen, which Waterman called the Lady Patricia, was created in 1930 for the female hand, following the successful sales of the Waterman Patrician range – a much larger fountain pen aimed primarily at the male market. The Stationery Trades’ Journal of the time (November 1930) praised its “slender careful lines and smart modish colour” It was marketed as having a “smart, modern, feminine cap clasp – holding the pen securely in place, even in the most crowded handbag.” The first Lady Patricia was presented to Miss Amy Johnson (1903-1941) the English female aviator who carried a Waterman fountain pen during her daring solo flight from England to Australia. It was marketed in a range of colours – this one is called Jade Green.  The cap top, clip, single decorated cap band and lever are gold fill. It has a Waterman’s Ideal Canada No.2 nib in a medium to slightly broad point which is a pleasure to use. This delightful, and quite rare, vintage pen is in good condition with only minor age wear including some brassing to the trim as can be seen in the montage. The barrel imprint states “Waterman’s Fountain Pen, Reg. U.S. PAT. OFF. Made in USA” with the Waterman’s “Ideal” logo. So a Canadian pen, with a U.S.A. nib from a U.K. website! There is some slight colour variation between the cap and barrel as is common with this finish but not to the extent that it detracts from the pen. It is a small pen measuring 108mm with cap on and 136mm with cap on barrel end. It is a true reflection of its period and this Lady will provide many more years of writing pleasure. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This delightful dog rocker blotter is difficult to date but I believe it is from around 1920. It comes for the well regarded German WMF factory and is marked WMF EP. The dog is, naturally, a Dachshund. His paws are a little grubby and his blotting paper has not been changed but of course it can be by slipping out the rocker from the top and inserting blotting paper of your choice. The blotter measures 113mm wide by 70mm deep and is 99mm from base to top of the dog’s head. The dog itself measures 103mm wide from the tip of his tail to his nose and 60mm high from feet to top of head. A working blotter, from an excellent manufacturer in a very pleasing design. In fact, I am not sure I want to part with him…..

Here we have an aerometric filling Parker 51 Duo of fountain pen and ballpoint. Parker extended the “51”range to include Duo sets with the addition of the ballpoint in the UK around 1956. The sets were understandably very popular at the time. However, unusually this particular duo example in black with rolled gold cap was made in Argentina in the late 1950’s/early 60’s for the South American market. The aerometric (squeezebox) filler unit states “Parker Industria Argentina” with the Parker logo. The fine point nib states “Parker Octanium Industria Argentina”. The advantage of the Octanium nib is its resistance to wear and its strength. Thus it has a firm point which some prefer to a gold nib. The cap text on both fountain pen and ballpoint states “Industria Argentina” and the Parker logo. Both cap crowns carry a black tassie. The ballpoint takes modern Parker refills and has a blue medium refill in place. The fountain pen measures 139mm with cap on and 150mm with cap on barrel end. The ballpoint length is 127mm. Condition is good with very minor age wear. A classic Parker set to either add to a collection, present as a gift or to have for personal everyday use if you prefer a firm nib and a fine point. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you will also be able to select your payment method.

Parker called it the “75” following on from their usage of numbers to denote models which restarted with the “51”. This particular example was manufactured in the Parker factory in France and is in a pattern Parker called Grain d’Orge – or Fine Barley. It is an early example with flat cap and barrel ends, marked 20 microns on the cap lip and dates from around 1970. This earlier model is heavier at 26g (the later models weigh around 21g). You will note the ridged area between the nib and the barrel which is designed to increase the writer’s grip. The nib states “Parker 585 France”. The feed has “B” on the reverse denoting a broad point but to me it writes more as a medium to broad. The section threads are plastic. It can be filled either by using the squeezebox filler unit that is in place or by inserting a Parker ink cartridge. Condition is good with only minor age wear.
