This delightful lever filling Waterman sterling silver overlay vintage pen was made in America around 1930. The overlay pattern is termed "Basketweave". In common with the fashion at the time it has a ring on the top of the cap rather than a clip. It was designed to take a ribbon or chain through the cap ring, which enabled ladies to wear it around the neck or a gentleman to hang it from a watch chain. It has the Waterman branding on the lip of the pen cap. The model number 452½v is on the bottom of the barrel – it follows the Waterman numbering of 4 = sterling silver, 52½ = slender size and lever fill and “v” = short length. The Waterman "Ideal" lozenge is on the lever and the personalization lozenge is clear. Condition is good with some minor age wear and a couple of small dings at the bottom of the pen barrel where the cap sits when writing. The fine to medium point Waterman nib has some flex and it is a pleasure to use. It measures 95mm with cap on and 130mm with cap on barrel end. A short but exceptional vintage fountain pen suitable to either add to a collection or to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you are also able to select your payment method.

This “Carltonware for Parker” desk pen holder was made in England c1930 to fashionably accommodate the Parker Duofold fountain pens of the period - however it will also accommodate a more modern pen such as the Parker 51 (as illustrated in the montage - a pen is not included in the price but can be purchased elsewhere on the site).  The stand's function is to hold the pen upright in the central tulip on a desk maintaining the ink flow for immediate use. You will see from the montage that the attractive design is a chinoiserie enamel decoration on a dark blue field with a gilt outline. Condition is very good. Note that the base baize has been replaced at some stage but the Carltonware branding is still crisp. Along the rear edge is the Parker logo. It measures 92mm wide x 155mm long x 30mm high. “Carltonware for Parker” deskpen holders are rare to come to market particularly in this condition.

This vintage fountain pen - the Parker “51”, was launched in England by Parker in the early 50’s. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. It has been marketed as 51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular example has a Black body with a metal cap in a finish Parker termed “Lustraloy” with a thin band at the cap lip above which is the “Parker” branding. It comes with a smooth Parker 51 smooth medium to slightly broad point nib that states “585 14k Parker England ”. There is a ghost of text around the barrel but it is too feint to read. Condition of both pen and cap is fair to good with some general age wear as can be seen in the montage and marks on the cap where the clip has been loose and turned in the past. This is reflected in the price. What makes this particular example stand out is the smooth Parker 51 medium to slightly broad point nib. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 138mm with cap on and 148mm with cap on barrel end. The Parker "51" was an outstandingly popular fountain pen in its day and it remains a stylish and extremely good “work horse” today. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This exceptionally popular fountain pen range was launched by Parker in the USA in 1964 and, in its various finishes, was produced for the next thirty years. Parker called it the “75” following on from their usage of numbers to denote models which restarted with the “51”. This particular example was manufactured in the Parker factory in France in the early 1970’s and forms part of their “Place Vendôme” series. The “Ecossais” pattern on silver plate over brass has eleven grid bands on the cap. The model is often confused with the later issued “Prince de Galles” that has only seven. “Ecossais” is French for Scottish – and as you will see from the montage the pattern is similar to tartan. Around the lip of the cap are the words “Parker Made in France”,the Parker logo and the 30 microns mark – indicating an earlier model. You will note the ridged area between the nib and the barrel - this was designed to increase the writer’s grip. The smooth medium point nib states “France 750 Parker”.  The feed has “M” on the reverse. The section threads are plastic and the tassies flat. It is filled either by using the squeezebox filler unit as shown in the montage or by inserting a Parker ink cartridge (as usual with ink cartridges you will need to give the cartridge a squeeze once in position to start the ink flow). Condition is fair to good with some brassing as you will see in the montage and I have priced it accordingly. It measures 127mm with cap on and 142mm with cap on barrel end. A slim, elegant and, in this pattern, quite rare late vintage fountain pen in an attractive finish. It has a pleasing weight in the hand and a comforting click when replacing the cap on the barrel. It is suitable for everyday use or to add to a vintage fountain pen collection as a fair to good example of its type. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before dispatch. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you are also able to select your payment method.

This Parker “51” Trio of vintage fountain pen, ballpoint and expel/repel pencil with rolled gold caps is in a colour Parker termed “Teal Blue”. The “51” aerometric filling fountain pen was introduced by Parker in 1948. Its aerodynamic design made it a classic and the plaudits it received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. Towards the end of the 50’s Parker extended the “51” range to include Trio sets of which this is a good example. They were understandably popular at the time. All three items are in good condition with only minor age wear and are complete with the Parker grey cap “jewels” in the crown.  The Parker 51 nib is a smooth medium to slightly broad writer and states “585 14k Parker England”. The ballpoint takes modern Parker refills. The expel/repel pencil contains lead and has the original rubber underneath the pencil cap. It will take modern day 0.9mm replacement leads. All are in working order and ready to use. The fountain pen measures 138mm with cap on and 150mm with cap on barrel end. The rotary pencil measures 127mm and the ballpoint 128mm. An excellent vintage writing trio, in a very attractive colour, from a respected manufacturer to either add to a collection or to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and a gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This unusual and quite striking Parker “51”, using Parker’s vacumatic filling system, has a rolled gold band on the pen barrel. Whilst the band carries the initials “FKH” it is in decorative italic writing and rather enhances the pen. An English pen, it comes with an American converging lines pattern cap that as well as having the grey “jewel” in the cap crown sports the Parker branding and “Blue Diamond” on the clip. The text around the cap lip reads “1/10 16k Gold Filled Made in U.S.A.” The barrel has a feint imprint under the clutch ring but all I can make out is “Made in England”. The smooth medium nib states “Parker Made in Canada 14kt 1947”. So a Canadian nib, an early American cap and an English barrel – it sounds rather odd but it adds up to an attractive and unusual 51. How to date it? Well a nib can always be changed so that is a little unreliable, it is unlikely to be 1947 as 51 caps had begun to change by then, so I have settled on 1945.The vacumatic pump fill system was very popular at the time and provides a clean and easy filling method (Parker changed to the aerometric fill in 1950.) Condition is good with only minor age wear as can be seen in the montage. It measures 136mm with cap on and 152mm with cap on barrel end. So an unusual and striking Parker 51 that will sit well in a collection  (I doubt I will ever see another one like it) but will also serve as a distinctive everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.

This vintage fountain pen  - the Parker 45 model - was launched in the U.S.A. in the 1960’s and proved to be a very popular economy pen. It was named after the famous Western pistol and was the first pen Parker issued which would take an ink cartridge. It subsequently became available in the U.K. and this example of the Parker 45 Harlequin has the very rare Red Shield pattern dating from 1981. The line was phased out in 1983. Whilst it will take Parker ink cartridges, this particular example also comes with the Parker squeezebox fill system fitted. The nib is made of steel and has a firm medium point. The text around the cap lip states “Parker Made in England U1”. It is a long slim and very stylish pen measuring 136mm with cap on and 147mm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good with minor age wear. It will serve well as an everyday writer and is also worth a place in a vintage fountain pen collection. It is an example of a Parker design that was difficult to produce, particularly in this colour and so only available for a short period. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. This attractive vintage fountain pen seen as a variation on the “61”, was launched by Parker in 1969 and called the “65”. As you will see from the montage, instead of an arrow on the shell tip as you have with the “61”, the “65” has a distinctive open cropped nib which, it was felt, would offer more flexibility than the “61”.  It was available in a variety of finishes and this the Flighter de Luxe – with modern styling of brushed stainless steel with rolled gold trim and and sporting the grey Parker “jewel” on the cap crown and barrel end. All finishes were discontinued by 1983. It comes with a matching ballpoint that also has the Parker “jewel” on the cap crown. The fountain pen currently has a twistfill system but it will also take modern Parker ink cartridges and measures 132mm with cap on and 140mm with cap on barrel end. The nib states “Parker 14k 585” and has a smooth medium point nib. The ballpoint is in working order and has a new Parker refill fitted with blue ink. It is 127mm long. This vintage fountain pen and ballpoint set will serve very well as everyday writers but will also sit comfortably in a collection illustrating the middle ground of the Parker transition from “61” to “65” and then to the “75”. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order and an alternative gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may select your method of payment.

This aerometric filling vintage fountain pen range was introduced by Parker in 1953 and, with its solid colour range and rolled gold trim, was well received. It sold well until the range was discontinued in 1962. This particular example, in a colour Parker termed simply “Green” dates from 1954 and is one of the larger models. It is a chunky and long vintage pen measuring 138mm with cap on and 155mm with cap on barrel end. The cap has the Parker single decorative chevron band and the Parker arrow clip. The barrel imprint has faded over the years but what can be seen states “Parker Duofold”. The good size medium to broad point nib is a slightly wet writer and states “Parker 14k England”. The filler unit is a very simple squeezebox method. This classic vintage fountain pen is in good condition with only minor age wear and is suitable for everyday use. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. This substantial vintage fountain pen was made by Waterman in the 1920’s. The 9ct gold overlay on hard rubber is in a rare and attractive pattern called “Line and Dot”. The added attraction of this particular example is that the gold is overlaid on a hard rubber in a pattern Waterman called “Ripple” in a colour they termed “Ripple Rose”. It is this combination of 9ct overlay line and dot pattern on Ripple-Rose which makes it an exceptionally rare example. Until this time vulcanized rubber was only available in black but Waterman perfected a method of incorporating a colour. The range included  “Ripple Blue-Green, “Ripple Olive” and this the “Ripple-Rose”. Waterman advertisements of the period stated “Nothing so beautiful in pens has ever been produced before” . The cap has a Waterman ball ended “Clip Cap” of the period. The barrel gold markings state“FDW 9 375” (rubbed) and hallmark for London 1923. FDW stands for Frank D. Waterman. His uncle, Lewis E. Waterman, was the founder of Waterman in 1888 - it was his nephew Frank who became the company ambassador abroad. He was entrusted with the distribution of Waterman pens in England via the London stationer L.G. Sloane. Normally you would find more markings around the smooth tapered area at the bottom of the barrel but these have been smoothed off over time. The medium flexible nib writes a wet line and states “Waterman’s Ideal REg.U.S. PAT. OFF. 2 Made in U.S.A.”. Condition is good with a minor ding on the crown of the cap. It is also worth noting, as you will see from the montage, that the personalization lozenge is engraved with the initials “FCP” – this is reflected in the price. Its weight is 26grams and it measures 140mm with cap on and 173mm with cap on barrel end. This is a rare and exceptional vintage fountain pen, evocative of its era of style and elegance and it will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. It is also suitable to use everyday. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.
