The Parker “61” was first launched in the UK in 1964. This particular example, issued in 1966 and discontinued in 1969 is the “61 Presidential”. This exceptional set, comprising fountain pen and propelling pencil, is made of 9ct gold. The weight of the fountain pen is 26g and the pencil 24g. As you can see from the montage they are well hallmarked. The elegant styling of the Parker "61" with its arrow pointing the way to the nib combined with the Parker grey pearl “jewel” in the cap crown of each item and on the end of the fountain pen barrel, combines to create a quite distinctive Parker design. Parker called the attractive pattern of lines and dots “Perlé” – it gives both items a bit of sparkle. The text around the cap lip on both carries the hallmark and states "Parker 61 Made in England". The pair is a good weight and balance in the hand and the nib has a smooth medium point. On unscrewing the fountain pen barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This is immersed in the ink to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction. This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib into the ink bottle. Whilst it depends on the owner to use and refill the pen on a regular basis (so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler), it is a reliable and clean filling method. Condition on both items is very good with very minor age wear and the barrel lozenge is clear of personalization. The capillary filler has been used to fill the fountain pen for testing and it is in working order. The expel/repel pencil is also in working order and currently has lead in the chamber. The replacement lead size is 0.9mm. The fountain pen measures 133mm with cap on and 142mm with cap on barrel end. The pencil is 129mm in length. The Parker “61” has a distinctive and elegant look and this, combined with a 9ct gold finish, make this an exceptional example of Parker at their best. It will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection but equally they will serve well as everyday writers. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment. A currency converter tool is there to assist if required.

The Parker “61” was launched in the UK in 1964. This particular example, the “61 Consort” with its rolled gold cap decorated with vertical and horizontal lines and a grey pearl “jewel” crown is one of the rarest in the “61” range and dates from 1967. It comes with a matching Parker 61 ballpoint and pencil. The elegant styling of the Parker "61" with its arrow pointing the way to the nib combined with the Parker grey pearl “jewel” in the cap crown of each item, creates a quite distinctive Parker design. The cap text on all items states “Parker Made in England 1/5 12ct rolled gold” and they carry the Parker logo. The nib has a smooth medium point. On unscrewing the fountain pen barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This is immersed in the ink to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction which is why it was advertised as "The pen that fills itself". This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib into the ink bottle. Whilst it depends on the owner to use and refill the pen on a regular basis (so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler), used correctly it is a reliable and clean filling method. Condition on all items is good - there is a minor ding on the cap of the ballpoint and some brassing as can be seen in the montage. The capillary filler has been used to fill the fountain pen for testing and it is in working order. The ballpoint has a new Parker blue refill and has a smooth cap activated system. The expel/repel pencil is also in working order and comes with a phial of replacement Parker leads. The replacement lead size is 0.92. The fountain pen measures 135mm with cap on and 142mm with cap on barrel end. The ballpoint is 128mm long, the pencil 127mm. The Parker “61” has a distinctive and elegant look and this trio of fountain pen, ballpoint and pencil will provide good service as everyday writers. With the addition of the Consort design being one of the rarest in the “61” range, and the capillary filling system, it will also sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. The Parker “61” was launched in the U.S.A.1956 and in 1964 in the U.K. with Parker proudly announcing its revolutionary filling system. The “61” with its stylish arrow inset into the pen nib shell, pointing the way to the nib, is quite distinctive and rather elegant. This particular example has a classic grey finish with lustraloy caps and the Parker grey “jewel” on the cap crown and barrel end. The matching Parker rotary pencil also carries the cap “jewel” and they come in the original Parker presentation box. The nib has a smooth medium point. The cap text states “Parker Made in England” and carries the Parker logo. The fountain pen measures 135mm with cap on and 144mm with cap on barrel end. The pencil measures 128mm. On unscrewing the barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This exposes the filler unit (illustrated in the montage) which is immersed in the ink bottle to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction. This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib end. Whilst at the time a number of owners found this filling method unsatisfactory in the longer term, it was simply because it depended upon the owner to use the pen on a regular basis, and refill it, so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler. Used correctly it is a reliable and clean filling method. The Parker “61” has a distinctive and elegant design and this set will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. They will also provide good service as everyday writers. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale.
