Medium nib, Lever fill system.
This vintage fountain pen and pencil set was made by Conway Stewart, in England around 1953. The pattern is called Green Hatch and the model, a No.60, was their flagship selling for 35 shillings until it was overtaken by the No.100 in 1954. As you will see from the photograph the fountain pen cap has one broad rolled gold band and the distinctive Conway diamond clip. The barrel carries the original Conway lever and a good imprint stating “Conway Stewart 60 – Made in England”. The nib fits the model stating “DURO Conway Stewart 14ct Gold 60” and has a smooth medium point. The matching expel/repel pencil is also in full working order and carries the Conway clip and two thin rolled gold bands. The text on the pencil reads “The Conway No.18 – Conway Stewart”. Replacement lead size is 1.18mm and Yard O Led will suffice. Condition on both items is very good with very minor age wear to the trim. They come in the original Conway gift box which is in good condition apart from a scuff mark on the lid top – as shown in the montage. The No.60 is a chunky pen measuring 127mm with cap on and 15mm with cap on barrel end. The pencil is 130mm long. A good example of Conway Stewart at their best, this attractive vintage pen and pencil set, in the original box, is suitable to either add to a collection or use as an everyday workhorse. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection will be carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.
