Medium nib, Capillary fill system.
The Parker “61” was launched in the U.S.A.1956 and in 1964 in the U.K. The “61”, with its stylish arrow inset into the pen shell, pointing the way to the nib, is quite distinctive and rather elegant. This particular example is in an attractive colour Parker termed Vista Blue which closely resembles turquoise and is a little more green than it appears in the montage. The brushed metal cap, in a finish Parker termed “Lustraloy” carries the Parker logo and the text “Parker Made in England. The nib has a smooth medium point. Both cap and barrel have the Parker “pearlised” ends. On unscrewing the barrel you will find the Parker capillary filling mechanism. This is immersed into the ink bottle to draw the ink into the filler by capillary attraction. This means that the pen can be filled without immersing the nib. Parker advertised it as “the pen that fills itself”. It is a reliable and clean filling method. It does depend upon the owner using the pen on a regular basis, and refilling it, so preventing ink drying in the capillary filler. This stylish vintage fountain pen measures 133mm with cap on and 142mm with cap on barrel end. Condition is good with some minor age wear as you will see from the montage. This is a distinctive and elegant vintage fountain pen in an attractive colour that will sit well in a vintage fountain pen collection. It will also provide good service as an everyday writer. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order.
