Fine to Medium nib, Aerometric fill system.
This vintage fountain pen - the Parker “51”, was launched in England by Parker in the early 50’s. Its aerodynamic design has made it a classic and the plaudits it has received over the years both in terms of design and reliability are well deserved. It has been marketed as “51…the world’s most wanted pen”. This particular version, rarer than most, has a grey body and the sought after rolled silver cap with rolled gold clip. This particular cap was introduced in 1952 and it is believed to have been produced only in England it carries the text “Parker R. Silver” this dates it as an early cap c1952. It comes with a smooth Parker 51 fine to medium point nib that states “585 14K Parker England”. The grey barrel (Parker called it Navy Grey) has a faint imprint of “Parker Made in England”. Condition of both pen and cap is good with some age wear to the rolled silver cap as can be seen in the montage. The aerometric filling system is often termed "squeezebox" and is a very simple method of filling the pen with ink by unscrewing the barrel to expose a metal shell covering the ink sac - just press the metal bar and release up to five times and this vintage pen is ready to use. It measures 138mm with cap on and 150mm with cap on barrel end. The Parker "51" was an outstandingly popular fountain pen in its day and it remains a stylish and extremely good “work horse” today. All fountain pens are professionally serviced and bench tested prior to offering for sale. A further inspection is carried out before despatch. Filling instructions will be sent with your order. A gift box is available free of charge on request at checkout where you may also select your method of payment.
